Illetas is a world away from the neighbouring resorts of Magaluf and Palma Nova. It prides itself on understatement, and is an oasis of green in the high rise jungle that makes up much of the south coast. Life here revolves around the quiet pleasures of walking, swimming and relaxing in the sun that bathes Majorca for much of the year. At Illetas you will be well-placed to take of advantage of the island's golfing heritage with several top-quality courses within easy driving range.

Illetas is also a good point from which to explore parts of Majorca that many tourists miss. It is tempting to stay on the beach at your resort. However, with a car you can take a breathtaking journey up and around the north western coast where the Mediterranean juxtaposes the mountainous terrain to create some spectacular scenery. If you don't want to hire a car, a walk along the seafront will throw up some inviting coves for a secluded swim. There are also plenty of buses to the nearby capital, Palma de Majorca, where you can enjoy all that this cosmopolitan city has to offer.

Its small beach is popular in the height of summer, but stroll along the seafront and you'll stumble upon inviting coves promising private swims and quiet contemplation. Choose to spend you holiday at the Hotel Melia De Mar, savour the beautiful views overlooking the Bay of Palma and enjoy the small, private beach. Or stay at the Hotel Bon Sol, lounge by the lagoon-like pools and pamper yourself at the hotel's very own spa.

In the evenings, you'll find a small selection of restaurants and bars in Illetas, but if you feel like some late night partying, then head to pumping Magaluf or trendy Palma. Again, Palma is really your best bet for shopping and sightseeing too.
