Clasped between two pine-clad headlands whose cliffs plunge dramatically into azure seas, Camp de Mar has to have one of the most to-die-for locations in all of Majorca.

The bejewelled waters of the bay wash up against fine, pale sands of the sort your feet disappear into on their first touch. Straw sun umbrellas punctuate the sands right up to the water's edge. And nearby, a clutch of medium-rise high-class hotels command prime positions, treating themselves to breathtaking views over the bay and its enclosing cliffs.

Order a cocktail and absorb the magnificent bay views as you sip. Then hit the sands again or retreat to a restaurant to recharge your beach batteries with a plate of chargrilled fresh grouper or red mullet.

As the sun dips below the horizon, enjoy dinner and a cabaret show at your hotel before capping your evening with a barefoot stroll along the beach, the waves tickling at your toes.
